Today, Angelina Jolie attended a royal ceremony at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Most Distinguished Order of St. Michael and St. George. The actress was granted honorary dame status by the Queen in 2014, and she certainly made an impression with her stunning outfit choice. Jolie wore a breath-taking pale gray Ralph & Russo dress with a draped bateau neckline and a ruffled detail at the waist. Interestingly enough, Duchess Meghan Markle also wore this designer for her own engagement portraits and was rumored to have worn their label on her wedding day. To complete her outfit, Jolie accessorized with matching gloves, a chain strap clutch, and silver pumps.
The woman even managed to wear the fascinator with ease.
Reportedly, the Queen was unable to attend the scheduled ceremony due to her feeling unwell. As a result, her cousin, the Duke of Kent, stepped in to officiate the event. Other prominent members of the royal family, such as Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, Kate Middleton (who is currently taking maternity leave), Prince William (who is on an official visit to Israel), Prince Charles, and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, were also absent. It is worth noting that the Queen bestowed the title of Honorary Dame Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of St. Michael and St. George upon Angelina Jolie four years ago, in recognition of her efforts to combat sexual violence and her services to UK foreign policy.
Jolie is currently involved in the Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy project, which seeks to establish a series of forest conservation initiatives across the globe. In the documentary The Queen’s Green Planet, Jolie expressed her enthusiasm for the effort and described it as something that would be highly beneficial to a great number of people. As an active conservationist, Jolie sees the project as an opportunity to teach her children the importance of planting trees and preserving the environment, a message that they have already learned from Queen Elizabeth II.
There was a buzz earlier that Jolie might grace the royal wedding last month as she was spotted in London before the event. But she didn’t make it to the wedding. However, her recent appearance has made us wonder how she would have looked on the wedding day. Don’t we wish Jolie could attend all the royal events from now on?
